Hot Weather

Today is a nice sunny day in Edinburgh,  for those who arn't working or being productive. why not head down to the beach with a nice chilled bottle of Buckfast and catch the rays.

I hope once I have finished what I need to be doing today I will have time to get the shop and head on down to the beach with a nice bottle myself.

Numbers On Bottles Of Buckfast

The thing is, there definitely can be a slight difference between two different bottles of Buckfast so it re-enforces this thing that the number has something to do with it, when it doesn't, it more likely has something to do with how long it's been sitting about for, what temp. it's been stored at etc.

As far as I know there's a number like that on most glass bottles, you don't get folk shouting "Yas! Ah goat a nummer wan!!" when they buy a bottle of Irn-Bru though.

Saying that, I don't know anyone that's checked the number on their bottle for anything other than a laugh/piss-take in years. It was more a thing folk actually cared about when we were wee boys.

Buckfast Ice Cream

PREP: 20 MINUTES TOTAL: 95 MINUTES

Ingredients

1 bottle Buckfast, preferably chilled, as a ritual taste is compulsory for the essence of the recipe
3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons castor sugar
1 1/4 cups full-fat cream
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon full-fat milk

Directions

Pour the bottle of Buckfast into a medium pot over low heat. When it becomes lukewarm, add in half the sugar and whisk until dissolved. Continue to reduce the Buckfast syrup until its thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, then leave to rest in a cool area.

Get a medium mixing bowl and pour in the double cream, milk, and sugar. Whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved.

Next, pour your sugar, milk, and cream mix into your ice cream machine.

After 15 minutes, pour half of the Buckfast sugar syrup mixture into the ice cream machine and watch those flavors come together. Leave all this in the ice cream machine for one hour until it looks how ice cream should.

Take 3 scoops of the ice cream and pour a spoonful of the remaining Buckfast syrup on top of the ice cream for extra flavor.

I'm starting this blog for three reasons;

  • I'm a Buckfast drinker

  • A project for college

I hope that I can post interesting things for everyone who visits and keep and build up an audience for my personal enjoyment of people who drink Buckfast as well as help me with my college project.
